How new visual technologies could revolutionize fieldwork-based research. Gaku MASUDA
The data brought by fieldwork used to be impossible to replay or prove by any other means than direct observation.
What will be added to the existing fieldwork practice and what will remain? A profound change in fieldwork-based research as we know
it is to be expected.
A new type of fieldwork - more convenient, with possible permanent access to the field through the portable video conference system -
will become available. The focus of this presentation will be to identify the advantages and drawbacks of such a practice, and to
show how this new way could become a useful complement to traditional fieldwork. The information and facts reviewed through this
presentation will be used as a base for discussion.
